INAUGURAL CRUISE IN DESOLATION SOUND Our good friends and neighbors Dave & Mikie joined us for our inaugural cruise in August 2009 as we set sail for Desolation Sound. Engelenbak was still a dirty blonde at this point, and became a redhead later in the year. We quickly discovered we had A LOT to learn ... like how to get power to the dishwasher and stove. Or how to bait crab traps ... including which trap to use (we have three different kinds on board for crabs, prawns and Alaskan Kings). Captain Roland was the master problem solver throughout the cruise. And we all had lots of fun exploring the shorelines on the tender. Our cruise included Boho Bay, on the north side of Lasqueti Island; we then headed up Toba Inlet to Brem Bay; moved on to Evans Bay at Read Island; and spent a few days in Gorge Harbour on Cortes Island (we recommend the Floathouse Restaurant). We spent our last evening in Secret Cove before heading back to Vancouver with water coming over the bow. What a ride!!!! |
